What brand powder?

Post by adam »

H4895. Does it have a manufacturer name or brand name? Just want to know as i'm taking the plunge and purchasing my first re-loading equipment next weekend, and I want to try this powder first as everyone here seems to like it and is having good results.
Thanks
Adam

It is Hodgdon 4895 (H4895), there is also IMR-4895 and the two are NOT interchangeable!

If you keep up with attention to detail and produce top quality ammo you will be hooked after you see what kind of results your hand loads get.

Adam , Hodgdon makes what they call an extreme powder , its not avail in all the different numbers they have but the H4895 is , when its avail in the number you want you should go with it , its not as touchy with pressures like if you worked up a load in the winter and then go out and shoot the load in the middle of the hot summer its not going to go crazy in the heat and be over a max load and cause problems , here's a link to Hodgdon that can explain it better , Buy the way I believe Hodgdon owns IMR now .
