I use AA1680 in my .20 Vartargs, but I expect that it's definitely too fast for the .204. Perhaps others have had different experiences.....I don't know about #7.

Welcome to the forum Vern

I'm sure a load using AA1680 could be worked up although I've never heard or seen data for it.
It is a little fast but not much different than Benchmark according to the burn rate chart.
Expierimenting with fast burning powders is quite a bit more dangerous than slow powders. The pressure curve peaks quite rapidly, sometimes with little or no warning. Theres plenty of other more suitable powders out there with load data to start with.

AA#7 Most definately not recommended. Best keep that in the pistols.

Vern: I agree with Jo and Vartarg on AA1680 in the 204. I use 1680 alot in my 17 Ackley Hornet, 22 K-Hornet, and 22 Hornet, as it is perfect for that small case, but much too fast for a case the size of the 204 Ruger.

There are many powders in slower burning rates ideally suited to the 204 case that proven data is available for.
