Hi everyone.

I just read on BR forums that Berger has a new 70 gr bullet in 20 cal. Has anyone heard of these yet? Berger's website makes no mention of them, but if they're new...

I'm thinking of rebarreling one of my other guns to 204 and if I can get heavier bullets, I might go with a faster barrel.

At that point a 223 with a 55gr bullet would be more suitable. I'm not sure you could push a 70gr bullet much over 3000fps. The 45gr Hornady's were only test driven at 3600fps. JMO

I wonder who they talked to? The two folks I talked to don't know anything about it.

I'd have to agree with Glen. I'm not sure any .20 cartridge could push them fast enough to make them viable at the extended ranges they would be designed for. Does anyone make a barrel twist that could handle them?
The market for Bergers 50 grainers must be small enough why 70?

The 20-250 would handle them I think. But thats a definite specialty item. It would probably take a 9 twist for those or faster. Then they might come apart in flight at those RPM's also.

I'm not doubting they are being made. I just don't think they would be feasible in any of the 222 or the 223 cases.

They used to make (just disco-ed it) a 37 grain .17 bullet, requiring a 1-6" twist barrel I'm thinking a 70 grain .20 would be in the same neighborhood, probably on the same block! I don't see how that length bullet would be terribly useful, that's almost too much for .224" and just about right for 6mm! If I were going to use that weight, I'd rather have a good 6BR...............

Just for ha ha's I checked. Berger recommends a 1-9 twist for thier 50's so I guess a 1-6 would be required for a 70.
I just dont think its happening.
I did find one post on benchrest central that mentioned it and the poster said the .20cal would be a contender at 1000 yds.
I just use the products I cant design them but I dont see it.
