You may want to ask that question over at Saubier.com

Lots of Tikka owners there that may be able to help, as it gets alot of traffic.

I have a tikka sup varmint and measuring to the lands with a oal gauge is a bit of an eye opener. There is virtually none of the bullet left in the case, even if I did back off 30 thou it would be nowhere near enough. However a long jump to the lands doesn’t seem to effect its accuracy. I reload to SAMMI spec which is 2.260 as do most of my mates and it’s very accurate.

Known fact that the 204R has a long throat, unless you go custom chamber. This was done, like Weatherby did, so velocities could be boosted, which it did. So touching the lands is not uncommon with this cartridge/standard chamber. :)

Bill, I'm certain you meant to say "touching the lands is not common with this cartridge".

Unless you spec a reamer for a custom chamber, there is no way to reach the lands with any factory-chambered 204 Ruger. And that's why I had my own reamer ground for my custom M700 that shoots very, very well indeed. The only downside to this is that you can no longer shoot factory ammunition in that rifle. No biggie to me, as I never ever shoot factory ammo anyway, never have.

Just load to factory specs and go shoot that 204, you may be surprised how it does with all that 'jump'. :D

Right.. bad choice of words. :) I think if you want do to that, you should go with a 204 match reamer, right ?
