Vihtavuori powder for 204 Ruger

Hello. I was just given 3lbs. each of N133 & N135. The Vihtavuori load data lists a 32 grain using N135 and a 39 grain using N133. I want to shoot 35 grain Berger's so which powder do you suggest using? There's so little data on the Vihtavuori powers but I heard they were good shooting and clean burning. Also I was given 4 lbs. of brand new Alliant Pro Varmint but I haven't got that far yet. Thanks for any help/opinions/suggestions on this.

Jim, I ran into the same thing working up my 35 grain Berger load using RL 10X a handful of years ago. I ended up extrapolating from 32 & 39 grain published loads that used RL10X. First loads tried were 'sensibly conservative'. I imagine the same approach would work with your Vihtavouri powder. Not the best answer to your question but, you may be looking for data that does not exist.

I found this info online for 35 grain pills:

- N133; Min: 22.5 grains, MAX 25.1
- N140; Min: 24.5, MAX: 27.0
- N540; Min: 25.0, MAX: 27.9

As best I can tell;

- N135 has a very similar burn rate to H4895, while N133 is more similar to 8208XBR, H335, IMR4064 and Benchmark.
- N140 is very similar to Varget, AA2520, RL15, WW748 and IMR4320

HTH,

Jim

Ramos, Jim, thank ya'll a bunch. I guess I'll start with the N133 & carefully work it at .2 grain increments. Thanks guys & if you have any suggestions, what caliber?, for the Pro Varmint, let me know.

From the Alliant website:

http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/ ... tridge=175

Its for 32 & 39 gr, nothing for 35. I didn't check Berger, maybe they have something...JW
