I pick up me 6 PDS of RL,10 for my 204. I thought 6 PDS would do me a long time. The bullets I have 32 gr z max 32 gr nosler var. Jhp and 40 gr nosler bt and 40 gr v max and 40 gr accu tips. My gun is a 1@10 twist using Winchester brass Remington bench primers. Any data anybody have that can help.TY my reloading books all give different max.

I will try to remember to check my data tonight. It would be for RL10X, 32gr V-Max/35gr Bergers, WW brass and Federal 205M/Rem 7 1/2 primers.

I have been using 25.8 grains of RL10X with the 32 grain V-Max for 4,075 FPS. Very accurate, as well. I did, however, work up to this load and I also keep the ammo cool. Be safe and work your load up slowly.

All four of my 204's seem to like RL-10X, with both the 32's and the 39/40's. I don't shoot much paper, mostly hair, but here's a target from my files showing a 10X load with the 32 grainer from my Cooper MTV after I had the factory shorten the barrel to the much more friendly length of 24":

Image

That won't win any matches, just a target shot in the field, but shows that 10X is a friend to the 204 Ruger. Note that this particular rifle gave a lower velocity for a bit more powder than Ramos' load shown above. Just goes to show that every barrel is different, and you should work up a 10X load for your own rifle.

Please do not duplicate either of these loads without first working up from a safe starting load, as either/both of these loads could be above maximum in your rifle.

39 gr. Sierras over RE-10X right up at the max end of the range makes my rifle haaaaaappy.

Thanks for the info, 20B! I have both and a mix of primers to try.

Rick that is a great group all of them are. I just have a TC venture rifle 1@10 twist is why I bought it. So I could shoot 40 gr bullets too. I have it topped with a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40mm with target dot. When I fount the 32 gr z max bullets on sale I bought up like 4000 do me for ever. I was got to looking at ya's load data I look every where for RL10 . My local gun shop got a few cases in. I bought 6 cans . They still have a bunch think I will pick up 3 more cans that will do me forever. I like RL powder I use 15,19,22. Hope that gun of mine groups as good as Rick's. The fox cats and crows better watch out. I looked for some sierra bking 32 and 39 gr to try. I fount them at one shop 29.99+ tax a box I don't need them that bad.. Does Sierra have 2nds in 20 cal all the time we are going up by that way on vacation?

23.8 gr of RL-10X under a 39gr Blitzking is a very accurate and mild load in my Cooper. It's far enough off of maximum that I almost never lose sight picture on impact.

I am in the initial stages of finding the right RL10X loads for my 1-9" Shilen barreled Black Rain Ordnance. For the Barnes 26GR Varmint Grenade 24.0gr of RL10X seems to be the best. 5 round groups at 100Yds.
