32GR OR 39GR ?

Hi Guys,Im just starting to load for the 204. Im planning a p-dog shoot and was wondering what you guys like better for 300yd to 450 yd shots.The 32gr or the 39 gr bullets Thanks for any input you could suggest.

With the wind always being a factory for shooting PD's, load up both and use the 32's for the times when you can actually use a light bullet (mornings), but have a good 39gr load for when the wind is blowing (most of the time, and always in the afternoon).

Both bullets usually have the same point of impact, at least that's true with my four 204's; a very neat thing indeed. Those two bullets have proven to be very accurate in most 204's, and give impressive results on PD's, both in splat and launch factor.

Rick is right on. I shoot both bullets in the field. Choice depends on conditions as per RIO. However, if I had to choose only 1 of the 2, my personal choice would deffinitly lean in favor of the 39's. Better for the longer ranges, better in the wind, and is still devastating at shorter ranges. Also, for me anyway, with my rifle, the 39's are just a tad more accurate. If cost is a factor, the 32gr V-max is between 1 and 2 bucks cheaper than the SBK's.

I load the 39's for my 204 And use the 32's for my VT. Shoot the VT until the wind comes up or I need to reach out a bit farther

Thanks for the feedback guys.I think I will go for the SBK 39gr and try some nosler 32 gr ballistic tips.I need to load a boat tail or I drop it 4 times before I can get it into the seating die.LOL Thanks again guys.

Give the 32 gr. Nosler Varmageddons a try if you can get them. You might be surprised at how accurate they are.

My Tikka preferes 32gr bk's, haven't found a load with any Hornady bullets that will group less than 1". I have some other 39 and 40 gr bullets to try just need the tjme to do it. I'm very happy with the 32gr Sierras out to 300 on coyotes and gophers.

What is the twist of your barrel? Factory 204 barrels are usually 12 twist and shoot the 32s very well. If you have a faster twist barrel like a 9 the 32s might not stabilize. I have a 9 twist barrel. Sometimes I can get half inch 5 shot groups with the 32s at 100 yards. Other times only one shot in five will even hit the target. I think I know why and plan on doing a little experiment at the range this afternoon to see if I'm right.

my tikka thrives on 39 bks with 27 1/2 grains of ar2206h to u is h4895 never tried the 32 cheers bazz
