40 gr Vmax and 8208XBR is one of my favorite combinations. I've gotten sub quarter inch 100yd groups using 26.2 gr of powder with a COAL of 2.306".

As Tokimini says, I've shot some decent groups with 26.2-26.3g of 8208, but velocity was under 3,600 fps in my Savage with 22" barrel. It takes 27g to get above 3,700 fps, but it still shoots .5-.7 moa pretty consistently.

In 32 v-max, 28g puts me right at 3,925 fps and shoots good. while 28.5-28.7g puts me above 4,000 fps and shoots around .4-.6 moa usually. I generally like to run 32 v-max in this rifle at 3,925-3,950 which seems to give me about the best accuracy with most powders.
