It's a shame that after your one man crusade for Niko
Sterling scopes and 300 rounds of wasted ammo the
scope turns out to be a piece of junk!

Wow what a website. I just got back from town. Spent $220 setting myself up to reload some twenty-aught-four. I was gonna start a post to ask where to start with the ingredients I bought and acloco has already been hard at work with WAAAAY more possibilities than I could afford to start with. So? Hows it going so far? I have 3 out of the 6 bullets and 2 out of the 6 powders. But HEY I got 1000 of the same primers!!!!

Scope was not on this rifle, originally....but a Handi in 204.

But, I purchased the Savage in 204, then put the Nikko scope on it....and knew the results in 5 rounds. It twas the scope...not the Handi.

So..the Savage is wearing another BSA - 6-24x44, side parallax, blah, blah. It is what I can afford.

I have a 8-32x44 BSA on my Savage in 223....longest confirmed kill is 587 yards.

Longest confirmed kill with the 17 Rem 700...with a 8-32x50 BSA - 485 yards.....times two. Two cousins used to inhabit the same prairie dog mound...they are now in heaven together.

Purchased one more selection of bullet today....Nosler 40 grain.

Expense.....expensive?.....no..not in the least. Considering that Cabella's sells 204 ammo....200 count for $129 - $169.....which translates to 65 to 85 cents per round....reloading is cheap.

Could EASILY pay for a LEE basic load kit, bullets, & brass.....with the first 200 rounds that you load....and STILL take momma out for a nice dinner. Lee anniversary kit is $75 - hand primer, scale, powder thrower, press....200 bullets - $32. Pound of powder - 15-18. 200 primers - 4.

Ready to load your first 200 rounds - 75+32+18+4 = $129.....

Thanks Glen. I just had to sympathize with acloco. Im only 33 but that pic is my youngest. In 10 years I'll be 43 in his same boat. Lil Cheyenne will be 11, Middle Kayla will be 14 and Abriana will be 17. My dog, Ruger, and I are the only men in the house!!! It should be interesting. But hey, I already have all 3 of them wearing CAMO!!!

Forgot about the Nikko scope - it is on the way back to the distributor - WITH several targets.

I REALLY like the scope. Excellent clarity, good eye relief, etc, etc.

I would dearly love to send a bill for the bullets and powder.

I'm a firm believer in,you get what you pay for,especially
with optics! That being said,I do have a wide selection of cheap
or low end scopes that definantly have their place!,but not on
any of my varmint rifles. I do have a couple old Tasco 24x fixed
power scopes I bought in the late 70s that are as clear as
any I've owned and are used frequently still on one of my
22.250s and a 218 bee. I bought 4 competition target Leupolds
in 1980 for 7 to 800 dollars apiece that are still going strong
after 20+ years! That was a lot of money back then for a scope!!

As far as reloading being cheap?Maybe way back when I first got started,
but $125.000.00 for a reloading and gun-trophy room addition ain't
cheap!

Whoa...you would have to shoot A LOT to recoup that investment.

Yes...you get what you pay for. But, I believe the lower/middle manufacturers are starting to push the others. There is quite a few scopes in the 3-500 range that will give the 800+ scopes a strong run for their money.

Only problem with me........well....MONEY!

I figure if I can kill a p-dog at almost 600 yards, more money on a scope is not going to matter.

Practice will help more than anything.

Added - add one more bullet to the lineup.

Also - thanks to everybody that participated in the bullet swap - VERY nice to see everybody work out some trades.

Ah...gotcha. Southern? Northern? Or Middle? We used to live in Citrus Heights area (north/north east of SAC).

Im building a steel-building 2 car garage in the spring for about $7000!!!

Heck a storm heading my way....supposed to last 3-5 days (rain, snow, then rain)....ugh.

YupYUP. Its in UT right now. 2" of snow so far. 20degrees, 15mph wind, wind chill is 14. No end in sight. New Years day looks good tho. Back into the 40s!!!

As a paper puncher I really appreciate that.
As a non betting man I'll go with the 35 Berg and H-322.
Your best accuracy might not be at your desired velocity though.
Your gonna let a little weather age and tarnish all those loads. Get out there and post some results
