I've used a .224 thru .229 depending on the brass LOT.

All my .20 cal's mic .228" O.D. at the neck with a loaded round (with both domestic and Norma brass). I use a .226" bushing with the expander left loose in the die for self-centering (.002" under loaded neck O.D.).

If you don't use the expander, use a bushing .001" under the neck O.D. of a loaded round. If/when you change brass brand or lot, best to mic the necks again just to be on the safe side.

Thanks guys keep the answers coming, the reason i am asking is i have some Remington Hornady and Nosler brass all mic out at .231 when loaded but when i try to use a .228 bushing i can push the heads in with my fingers now to me that is too little pressure but i can’t understand why the .228 will not hold them as some people are using the .228 the bullet heads i use are SB Kings 39g it has been suggested that i may be doing something incorrect but i get no problems with the .226 apart from the fact i think that is a bit tight.

Winchester Brass....32g Nosler BT
.225 Bushing
.226+ neck diameter w/ seated bullet
No expander in Redding die

Why would you use an expander w/ a Bushing Die?????
Your paying to size the case neck an exact amount to create a specific neck tension, Hopefully decreasing runout from that custom die.

Why would you want to upset the apple cart by running an expander ball back thru the precisely tuned neck changing the neck tension the bushing die created and taking the chance of increased runout?????

What am I missing.......

That would be true if the wall thickness of every neck were the same, however, unless you are turning the necks, the expander button is the only sure way to get consistant neck tention.Think about it.I fell into that theory myself, when I first used neck bushing dies with a no turn neck chamber.
