40 gr. Nosler balistic tips for 1 and 12 twist

Post by rugermk2 »

Just trying to get an idea from any of you cz guys out there whether your guns will shoot the 40 grain nosler balistic tips. I'm running a cz 527 american 1 and 12 twist and have seen alot of mixed reviews out there whether the 40 gr noslers would stabilize. Also what size of groups are you getting with them?
Thanks,
Anthony

Not a CZ, but my Howa will stablize the 40 grainers. It is a 1/12 twist.. Should work in yours, but til you shoot a few, you will not know for sure. Bill K

Rifles that cant shoot the 40's usually CAN shoot the 39 SBK's great though!

Why ntgive them a thought ?

My Remington SPS 204 with the 1-12 twist won't shoot either the 40 grain V-max or 39 grain Blitzking....I didn't bother trying the Noslers. But as mentioned the 32 grainers are lights out. My Encore pro hunter 12 twist will shoot both those bullets though.....go figure. I guess you never know until you try.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I was afraid to spend the money on the 40 gr noslers due to what I'd read on other sites, and it looks like its true here too. Looks like its a deal where I might get lucky, or I might have wasted 20 bucks. As for the 39's I've read a bunch of people that have had great accuracy with them, but I'm also just playing around with hunting rounds, and I've read alot of mixed reports on how they hold up on coyotes. I've just finished up a box of 40 gr Bergers, and was just looking for something else to play with to see if I could get a little better accuracy. The more I read on this caliber, looks like I need to give the 32's a try and see how tight I can get them. Thanks again for the replies.

No personal coyote experience, but alot of guys here seem to like the 35g Bergers for coyotes. The 39 Sierras shoot very well in my CZ. I may try the 35 Bergers but the sub .5moa groups are hard to argue with. The Hornady 32g Vmax factory load shot poorly in comparison, about 1 moa.

My REM 700 SPS will shoot the 40g Noslers into .5 or better groups if I do my part. Haven't shot the 40g V-maxs so can not comment on them.

If you are looking for a bullet to use on Coyotes or you are just looking for better accuracy you might give our 37 grain bullets a try. We have received great feedback about the accuracy levels of these bullets. Here is a link to our site so you can read up on them if you are interested. http://www.customreloadingtools.com/crt_016.htm
