remington brass.....204

Post by MARK25-06 »

i got 100 new remington brass, loaded 25.0gr. rl10x 40gr. v-max. one firing and the primers fall out. i got winchester brass, 5 reloads so far and primer pockets are still tight. same load. i guess i should have got all winchester. rifle is brand new savage fcv. allways check headspace, even on new rifles. At least in your rifle. I use both and have had no problems with either. Several reloads with either before some issues show. BIll K

primers, remington 7.5 i tried cci 400s but i peirced some so i stopped using them. the gun shoots bug holes, and its a blast to take to the range cus you put up a target thats 12" x 12" with 12 3/8" dots on them and everybody wants to know why your not using a 6"x 6" shoot-n see. shoot 4 or 5, 5 shot groups, and they cant believe it. The Rem 7.5 or Fed 205M, or that type of mag/bench rest primer is best, so you do not pierce the cup. Your load, in your rifle, with the Rem case might just be a little high and causing higher pressure in the Rem case over the Win and therefore you are opening up the primer pocket. Just a thought.. i was gonig to say what bill said about the rem and fed primers. also cci 450s have a thicker cup for stiffer loads.

I have been using only Remington brass in my 204since I first got it. I have some brass that has been fired 6 times. Never had a problem with loose primer pockets. I do load just 2 tenths grain under max recommended charge. All primers used are Winchester small rifle.

We would be interested in what you find out. Hope it does work, as brass can start to become pricy if you only get one shot or reload. Bill K
