How about it?

Post by boomer84 »

G'day guys,

Now i can buy 100 pieces of Lapua 222 rem brass for the same price as 50 pieces of Nosler 204 brass. If you guys in the states knew what we are paying for these in OZ you guys would pass out, fit then die!

Now my questions are! ( I know 204 parent case is the 222 rem magnum and the parent case of the magum is the 222 rem )

Can i do this or is it working the brass too much? ( Have to stretch the case out to 222 rem mag then neck it down to 204 )

Is it worth it?

If so how is the best way to go about it? ( Equipment and procedure ) Figure annealing would be in there some where.

Any other advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for your time and knowlage.

There is ~ 0.20" of headspace difference in the two cases, 1.2645" vs 1.4636" @ datum. I personally wouldn`t even think of trying to use the short 222 case.

No, it will not work.

The 222 Rem is shorter than the parent case for the 204 Ruger, which is the 222 Rem Mag....a much longer case. The only possible case to form to 204 Ruger is the 222 Rem Mag case, which is in short supply, being almost obsolete, although one very excellent cartridge in itself. These days, it's much easier to locate new 204 Ruger brass than 222 Rem Mag.

The only cases that have the 222 Rem as a parent case are wildcats, such as the 20 Dasher. Sorry Boomer, but that's the truth. :D
