Savage feeding hollowpoints (Thanks, Silverfox)
Savage feeding hollowpoints (Thanks, Silverfox)
I reloaded some 35 bergers, and they shot well from my Savage 12. However they hung up when feeding from the magazine. I mentioned this in another post, and Silverfox PM'd me with the solution. I took out the magazine, bent the feed lips a bit, did a little filing, and now I'm in business with hollowpoints. Thanks Silverfox.

merdit --You are welcome. I'm happy to help out when I can and thanks for letting me know my suggestions worked for you and that you got the cartridge feeding problem solved. Those 35 gr. FBHP Bergers shot super-accurate for me and worked great on coyotes. Give us some reports on how they work for you on live targets.

Re: Savage feeding hollowpoints (Thanks, Silverfox)
What was the feeding issue? I have tried to shoot Bergers out of my Savage 204 but they would hit just below the rim of the chamber. Is there a fix? It would be nice to use them on coyotes. I have not had any feeding problems with any other brand of bullets.
Please, no Sidewinder today!

That was the issue. I will try to send the info Silverfox sent to me.

Thank you Siverfox, I got the pictures. I looked for the tool in Brownells but could not find them. I will try it with the tools I have, much like you did probably. Thanks for the fix.

Re: Savage feeding hollowpoints (Thanks, Silverfox)
Silverfox, I have a Savage Peditor in 204 that I'm tryng to get to function with the Hornady 45 gr Soft Points and that little flat nose about as wide as a hollow point keeps catching on the chamber mouth when going in. I have been hand feeding them to use them, but that makes the rifle almost a single shot. This bullet penetrates good, kills like lightning, and is as accurate as the 39 BK's in my rifle with no splash wounds on bone or heavier game. Can you send me a copy of what you used to get your Savage to function with the 35 Bergers ? I have never been able to get the 35 Bergers to work either. Maybe I can use them too. Thanks for any help, Sid ( csid93@yahoo.com)
