I recently put a load together that netted me a .194 center to center 3 shot group out of my CZ 17 Fireball. The load i used was 2 tenths under max load according to the lyman #49 manual. I was using Ramshot Xterminator powder and 20 grain vmax bullets. Over the Chrony the load was running approximately 4100 fps. Disclaimer**** Never assume the load used in my gun is safe in yours or any other rifle. Please start low and work your way up until you find a safe load for your rifle.**** Good Luck and enjoy shooting that 17 fireball, they are one of my favorite cartridges.

Mine is a 17 Mach IV....same thing, and my best work is with the 25gr Berger over H322, Rem 7-1/2 primer. Shoots in the high .1's, low .2's consistently.

Over on saubier there's an old post with about 75 17M4/17FB loads from a poll there a couple of years ago. LOTS of good load data for this cartridge in spreadsheet form. Sorry, don't have a link handy.

I have a Remington 17 Fireball. I have the best luck with Ramshot X-Terminator powder, 19.7 grains pushing a 20 grain V-Max.

My load is 19.0 Gr (MAX) of Benchmark powder in Rem cases, primed with Fed GM 205 M primers, using Hornady 25 Gr HP bullets. The ammo is used in a Rem 700 Limited Ed CDL SF 17 Fireball w/ Leupold VX-II 6-18 X AO scope. I like a larger forearm on my rifles so I set the barreled action into a glassbedded Boyd Thumbhole varmint stock. Most all of my shooting is prairie dogs. An other one of my p dog rifles is a Ruger 77 Varmint Target .204 Ruger rifle w/ Leupold VX- 6-18 X AO scope. My .204 likes the 39 Gr.Sierra Blitz King bullet with 27.5 Gr of Varget powder , in RP cases with CCI BR-4SR primers.. A person would be well equiped comming out p dog county with the 17 Fireball and 204 Ruger rifles.

wow tuck2 that sounds like a mustard set up.a man after my own tastes.thankyou to everyone who has helped i am planning on shooting the 20 grain bullets in order to differ it as much as poss from the .204 (favorite toy) looking for a good moderator as i'm hoping it will not be much louder than the hmr and can still be used around horses.thanks again and keep it coming. :D
