New VSSF, how much 10X?

Post by Hawkeye Reloader »

Guys,
Am anxious to go test my new Remi VSSFII. I am going to shoot 39 SBKs first with some 10X. How much works for you and what is the max load? Also, any other powders work great with this bullet?
Thanks!

I've just started playing around with R10X not long ago and my accuracy load with 39SBK's is 24.4 grns using Fed 205 primers. This isn't a max load but my groups do increase in size-so far anyway-as I increase the powder charge. You'll just have to play around with it in your rifle.

My VSF LOVES 10X!! Best load is 25.1 grains with the 39 grain sierra, load consistantly groups into less than .375" for 5 shots and is devastating downrange! I have gone up as high as 25.7 grains but accuracy suffers at that charge. A few between 25.1 and 25.7 were also good, just not as consistant. My remy seems to live and be happy right around MAX charges of most any powder. I would suggest you use advertised data and go from there. It appears to be popular to go well above max with this powder in the 204 and I have done it myself. Do so in 1/10 grain intervels and at the first sign of pressure.....back it DOWN! I have not found the upper end for this powder in my gun yet and I never will. The 25.1 grain charge is wicked accurate and fast.....why mess with it? Good luck there bud!

I use between 24.4 and 24.7 of 10x when using 39g SBK's. Accuracy works best in my 1:12 twist Cooper between 3600 and 3650 fps. On hot summer days I go down as low as 24.4 and on cooler days use 24.6 or 24.7. Accuracy drops off just a bit at speeds above 3650.
