1st time out

Post by hueys66 »

Was able to throw some powder in a few cases and head out this mornin with the 204 (VLS). It ended up that Jim White's load was darn close to what I need in my pill tosser (thanks Jim). I put 28.0gr RE15 32gr Vmax together and here is what I got. The top one was the the first shot. The bottom four measured (.248) and overall was (.453). These were shot at 100yds, would like to try @200 and see the results. I would like to try the 39BK but none around here in the stores. I guess I will mess with this load a bit and the 32's until I can get my hands on some 39's. After reading, that RE15 is somewhat heat sensitive. Does anybody have some input on RE15 in 204's? Thanks

No problem, glad it worked out.

I've tested mine in temps from the hi 20's/low 30's all the way up to 105 and I didn't have any issues. On another day (mid 90's), I left the ammo in theri green MTM cases inside a 30 cal military ammo box in the sun for a couple of hours before I tried it. No issues for me. I was using both a CZ and a Remington and both have long throats. The accuracy didn't suffer any either.

For me, Benchmark and RE-10x have not been completly tested enough so the verdict is still out on them. If I couldn't get RE-15, I'd fall back to H4895. I couldn't get Varget to perform as well as the others. I've never tried 335/748.

No 39 SBK's aound here either. Checked 2 gun shops today and finally had to order some on-line. If you do get some 39's R10X works great with them.

I have had very good luck with Sierra 39 grain Blitzkings and H4895 in two of my 204s. H4895 is an extreme, temperature insensitive powder.

Appreciate all the input. All ears when it comes to learnin somethin about reloadin. IMR4895 is another thing that isnt around this area. But when I run across some it will get experimented with.
