Cooper owners

Post by 204rookie »

Guys and Dolls,

I got a cooper phoenix in 204 and top it off with Mark 4 4.5-14X50 TMR. I and would like to know what other cooper owners are loading? I already have some 28gr Varget with 32 gr Billistic tip and will load some 32 gr Vmax tonight for next week.

Please let me know your best load data.

Thanx

I think Varget is a little slow for 204, especially light weight bullets(somebody will come on and argue but facts are facts). The most popular bullet is the Sierra 39 and R10X, Benchmark, or 4895 pushing them. Check the Favorite Loads for tons of info.

I'm using Benchmark with 32 SBK's in my Cooper. It is grouping quite well with .25" groups. I already bought a pound of H335 so I am going to try a few with that one and see what happens.

Try as I might I couldn't get my Cooper to shoot the 32g SBK's anywhere near as good as the 39g's. I'm using the 39g SBK's with either 25.1 of RL10x or 25.7 of Benchmark. If anything the rifle seems to favor the Benchmark, but it's very, very close.

My friend's Cooper shoots 32g's better in his primary gun. He uses 32g SBK's and 26.5g RL10x.

my cooper likes 10X with the 30 bergers, 32 vmax and 32 sierra's. it also shoots the 39 sbk's very well but it won't shoot the 40 grain vmax's. it does shoot the nosler 40, however

Seriously tried the Berger 40g's for the first time this past Saturday. With 22.9g of Reloader 10x, and an OAL of 2.360 I was getting groups inside of .3 MOA at both 100 and 200 meters. I just loaded up another 75 rounds, and if this accuracy continues, I'll be using the 40g Berger's as well as the 39g Sierra's from now on. My CED M2 chrono had a sensor malfunction (replaced already), so I couldn't confirm the listed 3622 fps on Berger's load recommendation site.

Some Cooper's like the 32g loads and some the heavier... mine definitely favors the heavier.
