As my factory 204's seem to have alot of freebore I seem to find myself questioning my seating depth on a regular basis. On 2 of my
CZ's it is impossible to seat the bullet out to the lands and still have enough bullet in the casing, max length that will fit in the magazine is 2.32" and book data shows 2.25" oal. I have reloaded several 204's with success but this whole seating deal just seems to bug me!
I guess my question is this what do you guys start with as a general rule to find that sweet spot in your 204's ?
Bullet Seating ??

Re: Bullet Seating ??
I started at standard seating depth....2.250" and progressed out from there. My remington's magazine will hold a bullet 2.350" inches long, i seat mine back just enough to funtion in the magazine properly. Another suggestion: get a hornady or stoney point AOL gauge and see how long the chamber in your gun is. Recently bought one and was very SURPRISED at how long the throat is in my gun. If I shoot single shot, I can have my bullets 2.475" long!?! As it is, the gun shoots 5 into less than 3/8" with prefered loads, otherwise, the gun has been untouched except for a trigger job. My 2 cents worth.
