IMR 4198
Re: IMR 4198
kenbro:
No data for the 35 Berger, but Hodgdon has some data for the 32 grain VMax:

I've used IMR4198 in various 17 caliber rifles over the years - including the 17 Remington - but I've never tried it in any of my 20 calibers before.
It and IMR4320 are excellent 17 Remington powders.

Re: IMR 4198
BCB, i bought imr4198 for my .14 and see that i can use it in my .17FB. I can't find any data for 4198 and 35gr bullets, and, as a novice reloader i have been reluctant to try it. It would save me buying another powder if i could use 4198 for all 3 calibers. Thanks for your reply, Ken.

Re: IMR 4198
I use 4198 in both the 204 and the 223. I get very good accuracy out of the powder. I am not too concerned about velocity so I continue to use it.

HI Leonard, have you any starter loads for 35gr Bergers? Thanks for your reply. REgards, Ken.

Re: IMR 4198
Ken, I started out with 21 grains of 4198 and worked up to 22 grains and stopped. I was having a terrible time getting the 700 to shoot and stopped testing the 35's. No pressure signs. Only after recrowning, changing stocks and triggers, did I get it to group. Now I just use the 32 gr. VMax as they shoot very well. I use 22 grains with the 32 gr. bullets.
Hope this helps.

Lenard, (spelt right) thanks for that info.I've had a Pac-Nor 11 twist joined to a brno 601 action,so i think i'll go ahead and try with your loads. It might give different results than your Rem. Cheers,Ken.
