38 gr wildcat test loads

Post by Gube »

Finished up my 38 gr wildcat test loads with the T3 lite. Tried Ramshot X-terminator, benchmark and RL-10X. All three powders did quite well with RL-10X having a slight edge in accuracy. Here are some target pics using 25.2 RL-10X
First one at 100 yds. I had some lower charges to test but didn't bother.

Next target is at 300 yds.

Here's one at 400 yds. Still good enough for "minute of yote".

Had to do one group with the Savage VLP and 39 gr BK's at 400 yds. She's still "minute of p-dog"

 Is that last target about a 1" (4) shot group at 400 yards?

Nice shooting Gube, looks like your T3 likes RL-10X. I especially like your 400 yard group that you shot with your VLP using the 39gr. BK boolit and 24.8 gr. of RL-10X. I use 25.8gr. with that boolit and shoot at our clubs 600 yard range; using that load my .204 LRPV has grouped 10 shots into 2 5/8" at 600 yds of which 6 are in a 1.75" group. (Wind let up.) Had to shoot 5 then drive down range for a look see and back, then shoot the other 5. Kinda wish I had shot all ten at the same time as the group would have been smaller before conditions changed. Really appreciate the pictures and your posts. :wtg:

That last one measured .811" That was my best group for that day (no wind). Most of my 400 yd groups measured 1.75" to 3.5" with the VLP. The day before my 400 yd targets were around 5". This was with a 20 km wind.
