Last time I wrote to Barnes, they said that it would come out in 2008. Nothing new yet.

Last I looked on midway they said dec 17.. Than they took that date off.??

Midway has a great feature on their site. The "Remind Me" button. Simply click on it and Midway will send you an email as soon as that product arrives. Gotta love it.
The expected date is now 1/21/08

I heard that they were having production problems, that's common with any new product.

I wrote to Branes and asked them about the BC for the 26gr Varmint Grenade and her is what I got back:

Hi Bob,

I've not seen any testing done in regard to the BC value of that bullet.
Because we actually shoot the BC values after the final product is released,
I suspect it will still be a few weeks before we have any figures. Please
feel free to call back.

I haven't seen that disclaimer with the grenades. Where'd you see that?
Midways dogtown bullets have such a disclaimer.

Never tried a grenade in any other caliber. With a frangible core I wouldn't doubt some of us will experience some bullets going poof before the intended target. Much like the Sierras.
I wonder if plating with WS2 will weaken their core.
I'd like to try for 4500fps. We'll see.

Which Sierras have you had go poof. I have has some of the 39's do that and had people tell I was wrong. Mine have a problem after they have gone 2 or 3 hundred yds. MV on these are around 3800 FPS.

I've always had issues with the Sierras blowin up. Three different Savage factory tubes all exhibited the same phenomenon. Both 32's and 39's
You and I are not alone. There have been others. But I assume we are a minority.

Every once in a while I'll retry them hoping for a different outcome. Twas about two months ago I shot an Audette ladder with WS2 coated 39's and H-4895. Found a nice node up high where the BC advantage really comes into play.

Loaded up ten rounds right in the middle of the node. Not entirely sure but I think shot #5 actually blew up in the barrel. Heard the normal report of the gun and a sonic boom right in front of the muzzle. All fun stuff but not conducive to competition grade accuracy Luckily I was just using an old tube anyway. Chrono recorded it at 201fps.
Had to recrown my first tube while shooting 39's. Took a small chunk out of it. At the time I blamed it on a bad crown. 39's still disappeared after the recrowning. Chicken or the egg?

I've found the green plastic tips with root attached and in pristine condition stuck in my targets at 200yds just inches from a huge flier. This guarantees to me they're coming apart right near the target otherwise that tip would never make it there on its own in such close proximity.

Of course I'll try the grenades. Hey why not. But I'm not selling my stock in Berger just yet.
