Let's get some credible topics going that might help shooters prepare for next year's competition. Here are a few topics:
Bench Setup
Shooting Techniques
Stock Weld
Cheek Weld
Sight Alignment
Sight Picture
Trigger Control
Doping the Wind
Trajectory
MOA
Cleaning Techniques
Reloading for Accuracy
Etc.
For one, I would love to discuss anything pertaining to shooting the 240 Ruger for accuracy. Or duck hunting.

Here's a Prototype of a target for next year's 5 Shot Challenge. The idea is to give members THREE chances to shoot their best groups.
Opinions, please???

I like the looks and idea of that. I sure would like it to peek more into entering the fun shoot and having some friendly competition with each other, than did last year. Bill K

The final target will be a variation of this one. I think that there may be more participation if members get three tries.

I like it. Last year I taped 10 targets to my shooting board and hauled it out to a hundred yards. I tried several things from shooting 5 then taking a cooling break to shooting 10 then cleaning and finally shooting a rotation of one shot into each target until I had 5 holes in 5 targets. I even used a paper hole punch to stick little 1/4" florescent dots to the center of the target in an effort to have a smaller target point. None of it seemed to make much difference so I submitted the best one. I don't know where I came out in the final standings but it wasn't in the top 10 for sure. It was that dreaded # 4 shot that doomed me on almost every target. I'd have 3 shots touching then put one out there about an inch away almost always to the right-I'm a lefty. I keep on trying though and look forward to this years competition. It would be nice though to shoot my .20 VT instead of the .204 gas gun I have. Randy.

The final target will be fancier than this one, but it gives an idea of what it will look like. I'll post a picture of the final target AFTER the competition.

It will be nice to have a couple "swings" at our best group. Will you be sending targets or will we be printing our own?

I'm going to go back to mailing out targets this year. For some reason more members participated when I mailed the targets.

Good idea Skipper. In the mean time folks, pick up so of those 1/2 inch red stickum dots and start trying to hold all you shots on them at the 100 yrd mark, for the future official target and entry for score. Should be fun again, this coming spring/summer. Bill K

I made my own 1/4" red dots using a paper hole punch and the unshot up areas of old peel and stick targets. I had to put clear tape over them because they would fall off if you hit them. I could still see the little dots at 100 yards. I know I mentioned this in an earlier post but it works really well for me. Looking forward to this year's shoot. Merry Christmas to all! Randy.

Gonna have a go at this if being in Rep of Ireland isn't an issue.

We have had members compete from all around the world. As long as I can mail you a target, you're in. We should get the competition going in April or May.

When the time comes and Skipper asks for address Bunny Shooter, send him yours and your target will be on it's way, so you can enter the fun. You will just have to be sure your target gets back to him before the deadline of entry.. All that will be explained by Skipper when the time comes.. Looking forward to your entry and group for chance to place in top three..
