Re: Monthly Shootout: September 2017!!!
the mic on the first pic seems to indicate you're not measuring center to Center? cause that is the standard, no sense handicapping oneself. If not I measure two or three ways to keep me honest, and compare, Center to center, outside of one to inside of the other and/or outside to outside then subtract one bullet diameter. All depends on the condition of paper.

Re: Monthly Shootout: September 2017!!!
I may be wrong, but I believe for the monthly shoot, outside to outside is what we are too measure. With no deduction for bullet diameter, as you would if you measure outside to outside other times.
When measuring center to center, then you do not deduct the bullet diameter, so I have been told.
Maybe someone should really clarify this, before we get too far into this monthly shoot. Bill K

my mistake, I wasn't around much to participate in the competition, always figured C to C was std.

I have never used anything except C to C, but can change if that is what it is

I was going for C to C too. What I read in another forum was to measure outside to outside and subtract bullet diameter so for the group measurement of 1.150 minus .204 = .946.
For C of bull to C of hole for the far shot I subtracted half of bullet diameter. 1.131 - .102 = 1.229

Re: Monthly Shootout: September 2017!!!
That has what has reared it's head, which way to score the target for this shoot. The previous challenge was center to center, with no bullet deduction. So that would be a good way to do it.
But if some or the moderator on this monthly shoot wants outside to outside, with deduction, okay. We just need to know, for sure, which way. I really could not see which way was correct from the original post re: the monthly shoot.
It needs spelled out, at least for this old man and simple mind.. Bill K

Am I to assume that using MOA calculator can not be used?

This is getting out of hand. All we need to know is how everyone is going to measure and targets. either center to center or outside to outside. Then we all can use the same system and have fun and not make it complicated. Bill K

Re: Monthly Shootout: September 2017!!!
from post #1
nothing about whether the group size is measured center to center or edge to edge even whether to go edge to edge on farthest on the bull to farthest shot.Score your group in inches. Then measure distance from bulls-eye to your furthest shot. Add these two. That is your score for that target.
I will do it however you guys want, however the rules on measuring need to be clarified so that we are all on the same system

Re: Monthly Shootout: September 2017!!!
Until told otherwise, I am measuring outside to outside, with no deduction for caliber. group size, then a measurement for farthest, from center, then a total. Hope all other's do the same unless we are told otherwise. Bill K

Re: Monthly Shootout: September 2017!!!
as long as all are doing the same that should not be a issue, but honestly I cannot think of any rifle competition that does it that way. In this case it does not matter one way or the other since we are all shooting .20 cals
Jax just needs to set the standard
heck , when I do my shooting this week I will post the target using both methods if no standard has been set

Which one Skipper ? I thought we were going to measure outside to outside, etc. as you had us do with the 204 challenge, then this center to center/deduct style came up. I agree Jax needs to advise which method we will use in this monthly fun shoot. Bill K
