Does anyone know of a lightweight AR barrel in 204? Generally they all seem to be heavy varmint barrels.

The lightest I've seen was on an Remington R15 carbine predator (18"). Does Remington sell these barrels? I would assume they would, but I have not found them to be available.

I was on the same search months ago. My only recourse was a custom barrel. I received it yesterday.

It is stainless, 22", 1:10, threaded for a flash suppressor(I hunt pred's@ night), .8" out to the gas block, .75 after. It took ahwile waiting but I already have 13lb varmint rifle and I didn't want another one.

The shipping weight was 4lbs. With me just holding the rest of the upper parts and standing on the scale, it comes to 5 lbs.

I put together by hand just to see, I'll post'em later if you want tower, but a barrel is a barrel.

So... who did your custom barrel? How much did it set you back?

I'm in the same boat. I'm all set to purchase a AR in 204 ruger and all I can find are 24 inch heavy barrels. Was also looking at the Remington 18 inch lite barrel, of course discontinued.
So can someone point me in the right direction? "I" want a 18-20 inch barrel AR in 204. If I lose 100 fps because of the shorter barrel I'm fine with that.

I think is was $365+50 for the. 75" contour.

I had it threaded, got a new bolt and stainless low prof gas block. With shipping it was $465.

My barrel is 22" long plus the flash suppressor.

Then add $$$ for the upper, ff tube, ect...

Oh, and shooting weight including scope and pepr mount it's 10lbs even. I'll post a pic here shortly.

Getting the scope on paper, these two were good, but a foot low.

Just some 32gr factory hornady's, I'll stack 10 in that dime when I have time to load my own. :D

I need to get a better shooting bench, But thus far the 26 grain varmint grenade shoots the best for me.

Shortly after the .204 came out commercially, I contacted Randall Rausch at AR15Barrels.com and had him build my match grade upper... He used a Douglas XX Match stainless barrel that is still shooting strong....

He has different barrel contours listed on his website, but the last time I checked, he was not taking orders... That may have changed since the buying frenzy has abated somewhat...It would certainly be worth sending him an email or making a call some evening...
