Has anyone here heard of or thought up a AR 15 upper with a 16 or 18 inch true light weight 204 barrel?
I was thinking the 16 inch could use a 0.625 gas block and maybe 0.750 fluted in between the barrel extension and the gas block, then 0.70 tapered down to 0.60 at the muzzle.

I just built one with 18inch woa light contour barrel and I love it. Not quite as slim taper as you described but close. The balance and handling are great. I'm shooting 32 Vmax into 5/8 inch at 100 yards. Have not checked with chronograph but I don't really care. Out the window, over the hood, or carry across the prairie, this is a great choice. I have a Magpul collapsing stock and Caldwell brass catcher to make it even nicer from the pickup. I would sell my heavy bench gun before this one.

Hey Hotshot, how did you come by the 18" WOA barrel in 204? Did you have John make it? What are the specs & how much? I know Wilson offers a 18" 204 barrel but never seen a WOA. Thanks for letting me know,

Jim, I got this barrel on a trade so I don't know if it is a special order or regular production. It is 18" ss, threaded, rifle length gas system .750, 10 twist. I made a mistake about woa( have a couple of their barrels) the brand on this one says black hole weaponry.

Hotshot, BHW makes some very good barrels, most with 3 groove polygonal rifling. Before they started making their own, Black Rain used BHW barrels on all their high dollar AR'S. I have 2 of the Black Rain BHW barrels & they are awesome. Good luck to you buddy,
