Hey guys. I'm new to this site, new to the AR 204, & only been shooting AR's about a year now. I just finished building a 204, Shilen 24" 1-9, Seekins upper & handguard, & Black Rain lower with Geissele trigger. I need to know what the COAL you guys start out with on new loads. I just finished loading 60 with 40 berger's & 39 blitzkings using RL10, 8208, & H4895. I used a coal of 2.255. Is this OK or should I make a change? Any help would be appreciated. JD

Have similar barrel and lower. I seat based on ogive of particular bullet to barrel using Hornady modified case and comparator. Here are my results for my particular barrel from my cookbook.
Seat the bullet
Seat type/weight bullet to Ogive of the rifle's chamber. Measured by Hornday OAL gauge and Comparator or Redding Instant comparator. ( 0.020"-0.040" less than rifle measured ogive)
Black Rain-Shilen 26gr Barnes HP Reload to 1.965" Ogive
Black Rain-Shilen 35gr Berger HP Reload to 1.965" Ogive
Black Rain-Shilen 32gr Hornady V-Max Reload to 1.925" Ogive
Black Rain-Shilen 40gr Hornady V-Max Reload to 1.925" Ogive
Black Rain-Shilen 32gr Sierra Blitzking Reload to 1.935" Ogive
Black Rain-Shilen 40gr Sierra Blitzking Reload to 1.935" Ogive
ASC Mag 2.316" +/- .002" OAL
OAL not to exceed 2.303" limited to fit ASC Magazines

Thank you RBP. The ASC magazines, are these the brand you use with your 204? Do they work & function well? I need to buy some 20 rounders but haven't decided which to buy yet. Thanks, JD Southeast Texas

I use the ASC SS 5 round mags. They have the longest OAL that I have found and they have been trouble free. I do not have any experience with 20 round mags as I use my 204R at the bench.
