My 1st .204

Post by Buglemintoday »

Just finished building this...

DPMS .204 Ruger Upper
DPMS Lower
Leupold High Rings
Nikon 3-9x40 BDC

Maybe next paycheck I'll add a target pistol grip, and some other odds n ends to complete the gun the way I want it. 8)

I'm looking into building an AR 15 in a 204 Ruger. Hows does yours shoot accuracy wise?

Thanks!

I just finished a Lothar Walther 204 AR and just got back from the range. WAY TO ACCURATE! That is going to be one sweet shooter for sure you have there! Love those BLACK rifles. How is your trigger pull? I put a DPMS kit in and mine is sweet. It could use a little adjusting but its good enough for now. I am sorry but my new AR is way more accurate than my CZ bolt ever was. Could be the barrel! Let us know when you shoot it. I am interested in the accuracy you get.

Thank you all for the responses! I'll get accuracy and other info posted up as it happens...

The trigger feels decent for a factory milspec but on Friday I am ordering either a Timney Drop-In 3lb trigger or National Match, and probably a winter trigger guard so that I can wear a glove in cold weather.

SpaceWelder - Glad to hear that accuracy was not an issue for you! What loads have you worked up with yours? Any photos?

I was using 40G Horn. atop Varget. I had to seat them a little lower due to them not fitting in the mag. But I learned that from someone on here! I set mine at an OAL 2.247. It worked great. I used 2 different powder charges but I will let you know later when I get home. Both seemed to work fine!

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check the mag clearance as well when I begin loading for it. Hopefully before February I'll have some loads worked up.

What is your intended use for your .204 with the 40gr ? Coyotes? Pdogs?

I'm already loving this caliber and I still have yet to shoot it

To be honest with you anything that walks into its path! Out here in the communist state there is not much to shoot except rodents and coyots. But I really like to just play around at the range. I will be traveling to the midwest this summer to jump on some hogs and such. This will be my primary gun to use. I have gotten the Black Rifle bug and can't get away. You are going to have a ball with yours I can tell. I am working on some other loads and will keep you informed. I can see selling all my rifles to build more!

OH YA, that is one nice thing about SOCAL! I get to play all year long! No snow, blizzards, cold, etc. Just kidding guys I was born and raised in the midwest. I will tell you it has been cold. Morning temps at 45, day @ 65! Yes I to want a NM trigger system for mine. But I will be asking around on here for more info. Like I said have fun with you new toy and let us know. I am loading my 40's from 27and 28 G of Varget. The higher seems to be much better. Remington primers as well. Now, on to the 50's for me.

I got to test out a Chip McCormick and the NM and I think the National Match is a MUCH better trigger :chin: The pull and feel of the break was exactly what I like in a trigger. When I found out the RRA NM Trigger was cheaper, that was icing on the cake
