Dove opener

Post by mudturtle »

I can't wait until tomorrow. Is anyone else planning on going for Doves? There are few things more fun than being humilated by these fast darting birds. They are a blast to hunt. And tasty too!!!!

mudturtle: Humiliated is right! There's no game critter on the face of the earth that can do that better than the dinky dove. Headed to a gig tonight, and if I don't get too goofy, I'll haul my lazy butt out of the fart sack and get after those little zippers in the morning, then break-in a new Kimber .45 after they've humiliated me (again).

Here's a couple of shots from last year:

The hardest thing about doves is deciding on taking a 12 or 20ga....light gun shoot all day, or take the 12 for more lead in the air for those zippy little rascals...... :chin:

I went out, although not on the opener, I was at the family reunion. It was my 1st ever dove hunt. I hit the very 1st dove I ever shot at!!! Then I proceeded to miss the next 8 or 9! :lmao: I've been out twice and gotten 2 birds. :lmao: :lmao:
Anybody got some mid-late season tips? The birds are amazingly still here but they are super skittish. They flush at about 80-100 yrds.
Grouse open today!!! Even I can hit one of those big 'ol dumb FOOL HENS!!!
