I have a 1500 Hogue Howa, with the #2 barrel, not the heavy model, but step above the Ranch land #1. It is 22 inch and this rifle has the new 2 stage trigger. It shoots very well, with a couple of loads in .204.. I pretty well stick with 32 & 34 grain bullets, RL10, H4895 and 8202 for powder.. Mine out the door was $490.00 paper work and all. I am happy..Think you would be also. Bill K

Thanks Bill....it seemed like it might be one of those..."If it seems to be too good to be true then it probably is" deals...thought maybe folks here could steer me right....

I've got 4 of them. All shooters.

Bought 2 of those Varmint models, one in .243 and one in .308, dropped them in B&C TM2 stocks and working on load development with them right now. Very promising with the groups I have been getting.

I also have a Supreme Varminter in .223 that is one of thee most accurate guns I own.

And a S&W (Howa) 1500 in .222 that is also extremely accurate.

The triggers are easily adjusted and I have most of mine right around 2 lbs.

The only complaint I have is that cheap plastic stock it comes with, but that is easily remedied. Also, they use Remington 700 bases so options for mounting optics are limitless.

The Howa and Weatherby are one and the same. I have had 4 small cal rifles. Add a 1 lb rifle basix 125.00$ trigger expect great accuracy. I have shot side by side in Dogtowns
and it performs just as good if not better. Like I said the trigger is transfered when you buy a new rifle, it's a one time expense that makes a difference. Bases off the Rem 700
fit them both. I like the Tally one piece bases.

You have a good deal there no doubt.

I have one in 204 though it costs more than double in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Australia.
First load I rolled for it shoots half an inch .... Don't think you can go wrong.

I've had my Howa 1500 Varmint, with Hogue overmold stock for going on 6 years now. Paid $489.00, out the door. If you don't buy it, let me know, I could always use another Howa in 204. Also I have a Weatherby Vangard, built by Howa in .223. Very good shooters, both of them. I did install Timney triggers in both of them. I could not get the pull down as far as I wanted. Now pull on both of them is between 12 and 14 ounces!

For anyone looking for CDNN on the net, they are located in Abilene, TX and not in Austin, TX. They have no store front to visit, but if you're looking for them online, the "CDNN" in Abilene is the right company.
