well i have already found out that 27.5grs of h335 with a 39gr sbk, is to much for my rifle as it blew a hole through the primer
it showed pressure at 26.5, with a little bit of cratoring but, i wanted to see when it would flaten the primer.
well it flatened the primer at 27.0 grs but i could not see it very well, i left my specs at home, so i went on to 27.5,
and when i fired it, it sounded like there was no silencer on, and smoke was pissing out the bolt.
so now i have settled on 26.2 as my top safe load, so now i just have to find the sweat spot

they were cci , the rem 7/12 did not flatten at 27.0 though, but when the 27.5, with the cci went bang, i thought dont push my luck.
the rem defo takes more pressure than the cci one imho

bigt73--Next time you decide to try a different powder, check out all the reloading data from various powder and bullet companies right here on this Web site by going to the link below:

http://www.rugerhunting.com/204_data.php

I wish that information had been available when i first started to reload for the .204 Ruger back in June of 2004. Maybe I could have saved myself from a blown primer and damage to the extractor spring and loss of the little ball bearing under the ejector. I had a load that was waaaay too hot, similar to what happened to you with the H335.

I hope you DO NOT always rely on flattening of the primer as your indicator of too much pressure in your chamber. Rely on the reloading data from the powder and bullet companies. Yes, I know they have their load data set up to be lawsuit proof, but following their maximum load data could save you from personal injury.

Bigt73, Tony welcome to the site, lots of good information and people here to talk guns with. Always nice to have another person from the other side of the pond to add to the mix. Oh and we like pictures, lots of pictures! What kind of rifle, scope and suppressor do you have? I go more for accuracy than speed and my rifle likes it over a grain under the listed max. My rifle will safely shoot over the max but not the best accuracy.

Open this Forum & PB at the same time. Go to PB & COPY the IMG link. Just run your cursor over the link & click on it. It will say "copied". Come back here to the reply box & Paste the link in it. Then hit Submit. Do not use the Preview tab. Some Forums,, for whatever reasons,, won't allow a preview with pics in it.
