Hi everyone,
I firstly opologise as I am sure to be asking a question previously answered.
I currently use a .17hmr for Rabbits or close range fox, I also have a 22-250 for foxing. I am sure you will know that both calibres are very good but I am looking for that one calibre does all :o
At the very least I would like to try to save some money. I home load my 22-250 but it is a hot round powder wise and I have heard some good reports about the .204 Ruger being accurate and cheap to home load.
Can somebody confirm the accuracy of the round, price to load and range. I have tried the .22 Hornet but cant get the accuracy.
Many thanks for your help as it means a lot to people looking at new calibres :D

Marc

Welcome to the Forums Marc!! It's good to have you here.

The 204 is death ray accurate. Depending on the critters you're after will determine it's effective range. For coyotes & smaller 300yds is not uncommon or unheard of. It hits very hard at all ranges. Reloading costs I can't help you with. I don't do the math on that but I know it's considerably cheaper. Others here will help you out with that. As for saving money,, well once you start shooting the .204 you'll find yourself looking for reasons to go to the range & out in the field just to shoot more.
