I've had this Savage Model 16 in 204 Ruger for a while and haven't really shot it much except at the range.
Today I took it out and discovered that it will not eject (throw) an empty case if I pull the bolt back quickly. If I pull it slowly like I usually do at the range, it will eject. The rifle seems to want to eject before the case clears the action.
What are your thoughts?

Call Customer service and request a new extractor. Not an uncomon problem. My LRPV just droped the case as soon as it cleared the chamber,The factory didn't fix it when they put on a new bolt head.I installed a new extractor, and .140 detent ball.

...or...remove the pin that holds the ejector piston and spring from the bolt (you will need a 0.040" punch - watch out - the spring and plunger will fly under your bench if you are not careful)....and lengthen the spring by pulling on it...just a little will do it.
