Recovered 40gr. VMAX

Post by savage rookie »

I thought I would take the time to post a couple pictures of a 40gr. vmax that I recovered from a coyote that we shot this weekend.

My buddy connected on a coyote at 430 yards; bullet entered, skidded around the heart/lung area, glanced off the opposite ribs, and came to rest 4" above the original entrance hole right under the hide. Perfect nickel sized entrance and nothing more.

This was out of an Rem 700 SPS varmint with factory ammo.

Recovered-34.2gr.

Awsome bullet find.I never would have thought a 40gr vmax would have held to gether that good. Do you guys always look for the bullet in the yote after you shoot them? If you find more in any more your your kills post up some pics.

This is actually the first bullet that I've recovered from any game, big or small.

Excellent post! I wondered what the 204 had left at that range on a coyote. Should have been at around 2200+ fps at that range. How did the yote react to the hit?

We were walking back to the truck from a stand and saw a dark spot in a corn row, right as i said "hey is that a...", she got up and looked at us. My partner had his rifle up on the sticks by then, she took a few strides and he dumped her, head over tea kettle, she got up spun twice, sprinted 15 yards and piled up.

Very cool pic! That's gotta be a rare find for a balistic tipped bullet. Nice recovery!

That's pretty cool. I've never recovered a varmint bullet before.

Thanks for sharing that. :yeah:
