Topic Notification e-mails?

Post by WaltherP99 »

Didn't know where else to put this so here it goes.....

Is anyone else having issues with getting topic reply notifications? I have been getting them since I have joined but they stopped as of late.

Any help?

I know how to shut them off. Don't wanna do that. I want them to keep coming. :)

For some odd reason, I haven't been getting them as of late! Just annoys me NOT knowing that replies have been posted in threads I am following! :)

I've never used that feature so I honestly don't know how it even works. I log in & use the "View New Posts" tab. Maybe Brian will run out of AR ammo here soon & stop by & lend a hand.

Below are my guess at instructions for getting email notifications on additions to a thread.

Make sure you're logged in.

In the thread you want to be notified on, click "Subscribe topic", just above the Author column heading.

You should now receive email notices when someone posts somethign new to that thread. To remove notifications, click "Unsubscribe topic" in the same place.

Any time you are logged in, you can also click on "User Control Panel" in the upper right of any page. Under "Options" to the left side of that page, click on "» Manage subscriptions" to see a list of all threads you are subscribed to. Here, ou can check/uncheck those boxes and choose to unsubscribe from one or more at the same time.

If you want to always get email notices of replies to a topic you started, under "User Control Panel", go to "Board preferences" on the left, then look under "Edit posting defaults". Check the "Yes" box for "Notify me upon replies by default:" then click "Submit".

You should now get email notices any time a reply is made to a post you made.

Also, every time you post a message, there is a box you can check for "Notify me when a reply is posted" if you want to get notices of replies to that one message, but not all of your posts, all the time.

Too late to mess with it here, but maybe someone can try it and see if the above works or not.

Thanks for the write up Baba, I appreciate the help.

BUT, this is where it gets confusing.....ALL of those steps were already done when I noticed I wasn't getting notifications from here and I am still not getting them! :D It's enough to drive ya NUTS!

I thought it may have been a spam blocker but no luck there either! I'm STUMPED!

The "notifications" had stopped for a while, but I see they are back up and working again.

Did you get a notice for this one? They're working fine for me. I was thinking isn't there somewhere to check a box "Allow email from administrators"? That might override the topic reply email, and be stopping them from being sent. ? It could also be an issue of your ISP or the board's hosting provider blocking email from/to the forum and your address.

I un-ticked that one so we will see if that helps!

Not sure where the issue could be but I am starting to think the latter as being the issue! I have been checking my junk e-mail thinking maybe a spam filter is doing it but that is not the case!
