group size ?

Reading back over some old posts i have read where people shot .125, .150 , .175 inch groups ect. I am by no means a math wiz and have always compared group size to a dime or a penny, but I am wondering how a .204 can shoot this small of a group? If five shots went in the same hole perfectly wouldnt the group be .204? how can it be smaller? I have to be missing somthing here??

A group is measured from the farthest outside edges and then subtracting the diameter of the bullet. There are more precise methods but that's a quick explanation. So a 30 caliber round can shoot a group as small as a 20 cal round.

Another way to do this is to measure the widest dispersion of the group with an accurate instrument, such as a caliper, and then subtract the diameter of the caliber you are shooting, such as this:
204 Ruger; widest dispersion of group size, .600; .600 less .204= .396.
30-06; widest dispersion of group size, .600; .600 less .308= .292

From my understanding if all 5 shots went in the same hole without making it any larger than one single hole, it would be 0.
