I was told by the dealer that the Ruger Vaqureo 45 colt was made in 1997 & was an uncataloged item buy Ruger with the mother of pearl grips & engraving on the cylinder. Not sure if this is true or not. Think I may make a call to Ruger to find out for sure. Either way I like the way it looks. Any one got any good load for 45 colt ?

For the 45 Colt a really good load is a 250/255 cast SWC and 8.5 grains of Unique. About 900 fps in my 5 1/2" sa's and good accuracy.

It is a Richards stock in camo laminated. It was rougher than I expected, needed lots of work to shape & sand . Expect to spend a lot of quality time working one one . I had fun doing mine.

For a good all-around plinking load I like 6.8 grains of Hodgedon Titegroup with a 250 gr. bullet. There's a site called (I think) Sixgunners.com or Sixshooters.com and if it's still around and you go to John Linebaugh's 45 LC Ruger section there's some real fascinating loading info for Vaqueros. As per his advice, for grizzly bear protection I load 22.5 grains of H110 with a 300 gr. bullet. It's a real hotty, recommended only for the single action Rugers if I recall correctly.

I recently finished one of Richard's TacDriver stocks for my 10/22. Like you said, it took some time to get everything smooth and shaped. And like you, I enjoyed the process.

Nice job on that stock Happy Did you pillar it as well? How long did it take Richard's to get that stock to you?
Make sure you hang on tight to them "pearlies whites"
