New 204 Owner

Came about my 204 in a rather odd way, I had a savage 22-250 that was constantly mis firing so I took it back and they replaced it. What I got in it's place was a remington model 7 predator in 204 ruger. This is a real nice little gun boys!!! The trigger pull on it is awfull so I am going to see my smith today to get it tuned up. Basically, I sighted the gun and went out with my nephew to do a little huntin'. Left with 5 rounds in the gun and came back with none but had 5 dead ones to show for it. I am super impressed with how well this little twenty performs!!! It was a windy day and my 5 shots came from 50 to 300 yards without a miss. It is wearing a cheap bushy right now but in the next few weeks I am picking up either a VX-II 6-18X40AO or a Elite 4200 6-24X40 as I feel the gun DESERVES good glass. Have to take some pictures of the little beast as well. After the tuneup and scope change I will do some serious paper punching and get back to everyone. Thanks for letting me in your house.

I also have allrerady planned a second 204 purchase. Not sure what gun yet but I really like how handy this new remington is. Thought this gun was ugly as sin in the store but when I got it home and took it outside it is not that bad at all, actually think it is really cool looking now. Can hardly wait to have a better trigger pull.

FBG: Cool, five critters with five shots.....nice. But what KIND of critters? Packrats? Wombats? Flying Bats? House Rats? Rock Chucks or Groundhogs maybe?

We don't know your location as you don't list it, so we don't have the foggiest as to WHAT critters...... :chin:

Oh, and welcome to our house.....you and your 204 are gonna like it here. :D

Updated the profile for location and such as for the critters, 3 ground squirrels and 2 very large crows. The latter were shot at 250 and 300 yards respectively. Yes, I think I will enjoy my time here, seems like a good bunch of people and for the record, I am HOOKED on this round!!!

The gun remains a champ, 10 rounds yesterday afternoon, 1 dead fox, 1 dead skunk and 8 little ground dwelling vermin. Pretty soon this gun is going to lead me to believe that I am a good shot..........LOL!!!! So glad I got this 204. it is simply amazing how well it works. Now I understand why there has been the big move towards the cartridge. Will post some pics of the new rig as soon as I get a chance to take some. Left my camera at home yesterday!?!

Had the trigger done on it yesterday and now it is much easier to shoot. My gunsmith is suggesting that I put a couple hundred more rounds down the tube before I have the rifle bedded. Could already see inside the stock yesterday where the barrel is making contact with the stock. There were wear marks on the left hand side of the stock right at the front. Thank again guys for letting me in your house.

Welcome aboard Fireball, sounds like you've got that .204 smoking! When I first shot one, I just couldn't miss with that gun and knew right away that I had to have a .204. Right now, I'm looking to buy another. Keep up the good work.
