Hi all,new to this forum,just picked up my third 700,LVSF in 204,got the trigger worked and topped it with a VX III,3.5-10.I intend to use it primarily as a carry gun,as I have a few new farms to hunt chucks,and there are lots of pastures and hedgerows that keep shots in the 200-300 yd range.
I ran a box of hornady 32 factorys thru it,got some 32 blitz and 32 vmax,played around a bit and found the blitz shot well with 27.5 gr benchmark,the v-max with 26.5 benchmark,both with federal primers.If I kick it up a bit more Im losing accuracy.Sighted in 1 in.high at 100 gives me 0 at 200 and -6in at 300.Im really not worried about longer distances as I have a 6mm heavy barrel 700 to do my longer work.
Im considering trying the 39gr blitz,just wondering what you guys with more experience think.

If I had a good shooting load with 32's and was only going to 300 yards I wouldn't mess with the 39's.
I only went to 39's for longer range performance in the prairie dog towns.
On the other hand, near max loads with 39 gr Sierra's are very accurate in all 3 of my 204's.

Matt: Welcome to the 204um! You'll fit right in here, I can already tell. Congrats on the new piece too.....can't have too many nice rifles.

As to your question about the 39 SBK's, Hotshot is right on. His experience mirrors my own for the type of shooting we both do. My Sako 12 twist loves the 32 SBK's, and also does excellent longer range work with the 39's. You may consider having some on hand with a known point of impact for those days when either wind may be an issue with the 32's on one of those farms, or for the occasional time a chuck may present himself at much longer range than usual. Your 12 twist should handle them just fine; most 204's seem to like them.

You don't list your location, but it sounds like you're in ground hog country, PA, OH or thereabouts, so like anywhere good varmint shooting occurs, wind can be an issue at times. I'd give the 39's a shake for the "just in case" times. Good to have you aboard.

Hi Rick,Im from Pa,most of the hunting I do here is in farm country,lots of pastures and hayfields.I do run into wind issues frequently,but it hasent been as much of an issue,as I use 85gr HPBT in my 6mm,Ive had this rig 30 yrs,just shoots too good to retire,but toting it and the 15x Unertl on top of it is getting to be a bit much.Think Im gonna try the 39 gr BK,havent shot the 32s in the wind,so Im not sure what to expect.Ive also only run about 60 or so rounds thru the lvsf,so I still have lots of 'research' to do,Matt
