My New .204 DPMS

Post by Vartarg »

Here's a photo of my new .204....added to my Rem LVSF and Ruger VT. It's a DPMS with 24" SS fluted heavy barrel. I've added a Chip McCormick match trigger, Buffer Tech Enidine hydraulic recoil buffer, hard chrome DPMS bolt assembly, Hogue pistol gripl, Wilson tactical charging handle latch, Lo Mount Wilson scope mount with Leupold VXII 6X18, Harris 6-9" Bipod. I've got about 50 rounds thru the break in period.

Hey, Very nice! I gotta get me one of them Wilson latches. Looks very handy with a scope in the way. Let us know how she shoots when you get her dialed in. I just shot my first reloads in my .223 Baer. I found a very small accurate window at 24.9 grains of Varget. Only two good groups out of 10. :eew: Both with 24.9. I like to load 10 of each. Go up the ladder with 5 each, Then do it again. Good luck with the new HDR. :D

I've heard many times that there's no recoil with a .204, and it's definitely minimal. I haven't found, though, that you can see the target all the way through the shot. I've been impressed with the effect of the BuffTech recoil buffer......works very well, so that the scope stays right on target. I'm going to get one for my Bushmaster 5.56.

I have that exact same setup, it is the most accurate rifle in the house. How does yours shoot? Good luck with the rifle.

I'd like to hear your experience with your barrel, because I got a 24" 204 DPMS barrel last fall in building another upper for my target AR (CMC trigger, ERGO grip, etc.).

I found mine to be extremely accurate w/ 39gr. BlitzKing and 32gr. V-Max bullets (sub .5" @ 100 yds), but the copper fouling is terrible. I've put less than 200 rounds through it, but I have to use JB's Bore Paste and 50BMG Copper Killer, in copious amounts, every 20 rounds. I'm hoping it will smooth out eventually, but the price of accuracy right now is pretty high.

Ditto on the "let us know how she shoots". I love mine and you were smart to replace the factory trigger. Lets see some target pics!!!
