Which 204 rifle for a carry coyote rig

I do some close woods coyote hunting but the ranges go from 100-200 yard very often.

I'd like a 204 that isn't too heavy but it seems like most of them are outfitted with heavier barrels.

Who makes a light weight (like a Tikka T3) 204 Ruger bolt that is a tack driver.

CZ is a good choice, the 527 Varmint weighs 7.2 pounds

LVSF weighs in at 6.75 pounds or a Savage model 10 Predator Hunter at 7.25 pounds.

Savage also makes some light carry rifles in 204 such as the model 11.
6.5lbs with cheapo synthetic stock. Price around $450 on the open market.

The syn stock is the biggest detriment. A tad to flimsy for most folks taste.
I have one of these stocks kicking around and I see no trouble modifying to an acceptable stock for a carry gun if I had the need.
Just one more choice if $$$ is a concern.

The CZ 527 American would be one of my top choices. Its reputation for accuracy is good, and the workmanship is very good on CZs.

The Tikka Varmint Stainless is available in 204 (or will be I believe), and even though it is a varminter, it is not all that heavy. I recall that it is under 7 lbs., and that is not bad for a varminter.

There were some Browning A-bolts made in 204 if you can find them. It may have been special runs. I have two friends with the Browning A-bolt Medallion in 204.

The Ruger M77 is also a good one to consider.

I`ve just been on the Tikka websight,And the stainless varmint actually weighs 8lb.Personally i dont think you can go far wrong with an LVSF.At 6 3/4 lb.It makes a nice carry rifle.

I have a Savage 16FSS that weighs in at 6.75 without scope and is pretty darn accurate. It's a pleasure to carry in the field and if you don't shoot with a sling, you don't really notice the flex in the composite stock.. (It can be stiffened with a little work)..

I would suggest the Kimber Pro Varmint. Mine wears a 4-16 x 40 Bushnell Elite 4200 and it feels just right for carrying around on extended hunts. The short barrel (22 inch) doesn't loose much in the way of velocity - I can easily hit over 3900fps with 39gr Sierra Blitzkings, using 27.7grs Hodgon H4895, which runs at safe pressures in my rifle and I get 1/4 - 1/2 MOA. The short barrel is also nice and stiff which contributes to the accuracy.

According to the berettausa.com site, the Tikka Stainless Varminter weighs 6 lbs., 10 oz. I was surprised that it is that light.

Is anyone on the forum shooting this in any of its calibers? I am interested in one if they bring the lefthand version to the US.

I just picked up a LVSF for a light carry gun and really like it. If Sako made the Finnlight in 204 I'd have probably went that direction, but the little Rem is pretty cheap and has a $50 rebate. They are being discontinued so get one while you can.

I started with a Ruger Ultra light and it is a good shooter I have it set up for night hunting. I just purchased a Rem LVSF and like the stock a lot. The new (ss) security system has caused me problems and I fear it is going to cost me some money to replace the firing pine to get rid of it. Gunbrokers.com is the place to shop. If you buy the Remington take the $50 dollar rebate and replace the firing pin for $43 dollars from Midway. Personally I like stainless steal and plastic stocks for my carry around rifles it just handles the weather. Wash and ware.

Is it true they say the safety works bass ackwards on a CZ?
