OK, the .204 won me over, now what about a Remington 700 VTR

I am shopping daily for a .204 that I like, not having great luck.. Today I found Remington's 2008 catalog and it has a 700 VTR in it, I don't know why, but I like it!
Anyone shoot one of these? Remington makes a fine rifle, but this one is a bit out of the ordinary.. I like different.
Does it shoot straight? Does it do justice to the .204 round?

It looks like an SPS gone wrong!
About halfway down the page (post by WYARMT)
On the down side the stocks are lacking percision shooting standards. The stock is NOT aluminum bedded. It also has major issues with the barrel making contact with the stock.
This was on a .308 version, but the same issue would be true with all offerings. This was the same reason I put a new stock on my 700 SPS 17 Fireball. The stock was so flimsy that bedding and free floating did little good.

Go with savage! The worst groups I shot while working up a load were well under 1/2 inch. I paid $404 for mine new. $275 for B&L 3200 5-15. Like I said, well under 1/2 inch.

I would look at the Savage and CZ. They are a lot of gun for the money and accurate. Both have better triggers than the Remington, in my humble opinion.

I'm shooting a Savage model 12 FV. . . . haven't looked back.
Out of box accuracy was INSAINE !
It'll shoot 32g, 40g, 45g Hornadys (factory ammo) with 3 shot groups inside a nickel at 100yds. Out of box (30yds through the barrel, 10 sighting in scope), with a 3-9x40 Leupold Vari X II scope added, I'm busting golf balls at 200yds!
Mine is a single shot. Savage makes a sweet LRPV (long range precision varminter) that has a 1:7 twist and a 26" barrel
Me likey. . . . for the money. . . . it won't disappoint you !!
I only paid $550 for my gun and $295 for the scope. $70 for a Harris bipod. . . . . . with sub 1/2" groupings at 100yds and 1-2" groupings at 200yds (too much caffeine will make ya shake a bit)

I think that 1:7 for the 204 LRPV on the Savage web site is a typo.

I would have to agree. The 1st thing that comes to mind at 4100fps & a 7" twist is "ZZZIIINNNNGGGGGG"!!
