Velocity induced frangibility?
Recently i have had some of my 40gr rem factory ammo (accu tips), just blow up on the surface at range's less than 100yds. I'v had to make another shot at the fox to finish it. Something i dont like having to do
What are the 39 sierra b/k like as I intend to try these when I start reloading?

Theres no fury creatures to shoot where I live so any info I give is simply accumulated regurgitated knowledge from this forum.
If I have my history correct the Rem accu-tip is actually a Hornady V-max with a different colored tip.
I'm quite surprised your having blow up problems with them on a fox. Have the tree huggers in your area been equipping them with Kevlar. Most 204 fox hunters are trying to find a way to keep from blowing them in half.
Anyhow my opinion of the Sierras is they are the most frangible of all your choices. Theres some guys using them on coyotes and claiming they work good. I have no reason to doubt them.

Tough bullets= Berger. If your gun likes 40gn pills try the 40 Bergs. Of course there is the 45gn Hornady thats designed to penetrate like your average hunting bullet. I'm not sure if the jury is still debating on their performance. I think I read some yote hunters were experiencing shoot throughs with very little internal damage on yotes.
The 40 Nosler should work well judging by the construction but I never heard any real world results. My experience has been its a little tougher to find an accurate load for them. Not sure why as they closely mimic the 39bk. Maybe its just me.

As an aside. One poster some time back was having splashes on coyotes with either 35 or 40 Bergers.(I forget which) He consulted Walt Berger and his advice was to increase the velocity not lower it. As far as I know it solved the problem.
