I'm looking at buying a new Kimber Pro Varmint in 204 Ruger. A buddy deal can get me one shipped for 1050.00. I looked up a lot of reviews, most all were from 2008-2010, & they were very mixed. Some said accuracy excellent others poor. The same about glass & pillar bedding, some good & some bad. Has anyone had any experience with the newer ones from say 2014-2015? Better-worse-same? FWIW, and it means little to me, I see Kimber catalogue says SUB MOA standard on their varmint rifles. If I buy it, I would also purchase a Jard 12 oz. trigger for it. Any thoughts on that? Thanks,
Jim D
Kimber Pro Varmint 204?
Re: Kimber Pro Varmint 204?
The pro varmint I had was horrible. 3" groups at best from 100. I tried everything and it wouldn't shoot consistently with any hand load. I purchased mine in 2008, it had black in the flutes. I basically gave it away and will never buy another. I was in your boat, bought it cheap and sold it very very cheap.

Re: Kimber Pro Varmint 204?
Well Jim, my experience with my Kimber 84M Varmint is quite different.
I don't use mine as a bench gun, having HB rifles for that, but as a 204R walkabout rifle, it does everything I've ever asked of it, and looked good all the while doing it. I load to work through the magazine on this rifle, use the Nosler 32gr BT over 26.5grs of Benchmark with a Fed 205M cap in fully prepped WW brass, and the last two groups I shot with it during some range work measured .336" and .654", the latter group being shot with a cold, clean barrel.
On the bags during some load work while rat shooting:
I know this is not the Pro Varmint, but as the previous poster had such seemingly rotten luck with his Kimber, I just though it fair to give you another review of basically the same rifle.

RIO, thanks bud. I'm sorry sako had such a bad experience with his. Before I read anything I went ahead and bought it. Should be here Friday. Rick you gave me a boost of hope. This one is the newer model with the stainless receiver and no black flutes. I'll let ya'll know how it does. Thanks,
