Thanks jim

Hi Jim, welcome. My Rem 700 204 with 1-12 twist really likes the Nosler 32 grain Varmaggedon factory loads. It does not like the Hornady 40 grain factory loads but you will just have to shoot them to know. I found out real quick that different 204's like different loads. Welcome again, you will find a world of knowledge on this site. Jim D

Hey, Jim; Welcome aboard. I reload, but usually keep a box or two of every caliber/chambering I shoot around for "emergencies" or brass when it's hard to find. If your Ruger won't shoot the factory 40 grainers you'll have to go to the 32s. I remember shooting Hornady V-Max 40s when I got my first .204; shot OK, but the 12-twist factory barrels of all but the TC Venture (1:10) generally won't stabilize that weight bullet well. However, back when Federal loaded the 39 grain Sierra Blizking most rifles did pretty well with them (I grabbed several boxes on sale several years ago and am not too proud to occasionally run them through my CZ or Cooper because they'll group 5/8" or better easily in either.) For 32s, the V-Maxes seem to do pretty well and the price is lower than most others. I see The Hunting Shack loads several different .204 bullets, including 35 gr. Bergers; might try them.

I've had my Ruger American Predator in .204 Ruger for about a year now. Took me a long time to get it sighted in because of high winds in our area and 50 miles one way to the range. I've used the Hornady 32 gr mostly and are happy with them. (they are available) I plan to start reloading this fall. We'll see if that changes things.
