sniper 101--My Savage 12VLP gave me fairly large groups for about the first 50 to 55 shots. I was about ready to tell the people who praised Savage rifles as one of the most accurate out of the box that they were plumb crazy. I was using some factory 32 gr. Hornady V-Max and some handloaded 32 gr. V-Max. After about 55 rounds it settled down and has shot very accurately ever since.
