I think those whistles were invented in Austalia to scare off the kangaroos. They must work, I've never hit a kangaroo in my life, never even seen one.

heheh :P

im not convinced either way, plenty of people have them and swear by them though.
i simply avoid driving bush at night time.

plenty of dead roos on the roads atm though, good size boomers too.. perhaps more people should have roo whistles.

i wonder if insurance companies offer better premiums for drivers with roo whistles, i dare say they dont which would pretty well answer the question for me.

Thanks for the fun guys. I really don't want to hit another one with a vehicle tho. I've hit 3 already & had another one run into the side of my car. Thank the Good Lord I was driving real American steel that night!! A 78 Ford Fiesta baby!! :hail: :hail:

You gotta be kidding me :D , Fiestas were built in Germany, not US made at all. I had a sweet little 1980 Fiesta, great little cars, but not American except in name. They were replaced by the excremental Escort  , an abomination on teeny, tiny little wheels.

I think the Festiva (actually a Kia? it was Korean, in any event) came along in the late '80s, quite a bit after the Escort. Ford should have stuck with the German car, it was almost a Rabbit, but with better styling (IMO) and handling. Those Fiestas were a hoot to drive, you could really toss them into a corner and come out grinning. I know I did

Those first Escorts were awful, period. Right after I bought my Fiesta, my buddy's wife bought an '81 Escort, I drove it around a little. It didn't take long for me to beat feet back to my car  as it wallowed in curves and had a LOT of body roll. It was sluggish compared to the Fiesta, too, which was sorta like a rocket on takeoff, it would scoot nicely along.

Those little cars were fun to honk around in, but kinda tough on the drives from Ft. Bragg to Missouri or Kentucky, even. There's only so much fun a guy's backside can take, but they weren't highway cruisers, or meant to be.

I was young and dumb then, I let Jack Daniels take it for a drive, and he wrapped it around a BIG old oak tree. Last time, EVER, I let that JD fella drive for me. :wall:

 @ the JD chauffeur!!

Those things would bark the front tires in the 1st two gears & chirp third if you left the gas on the floor!! :lmao: And if they woulda put a 5th gear in em they would have topped 40mph easily. Plus I found 12" studded snow tires here & I went darn near anywhere I wanted to go in the winter. And the reverse donuts in empty parking lots were the best!!

 Diane just reminded me that's the 2nd deer I've hit with this truck. The 1st deer never hurt a thing as I just barely hit it at about 5mph whilst standing on the brakes.
