I've found that the 39 Sierra (28 grains Varget) is fiendishly accurate in my Savage FCV. Have not tried it on living things yet, but I'm committed to this load and busily loading up for this spring's ground squirrel safari.slickshot223 wrote: โTue Dec 26, 2017 10:26 am Have shot very few Nosler and Vmax, started with the 39 gr Sierra and have had no reason to change! Mostly groundhogs and prairie dogs! They do not exit the groundhogs!! You know the results on prairie dogs!! :>)

3 more and all fast quick kills. 47yrds,100yrds,137yrds
The single was the 47 yrd shot and got a bit messy bit the other longer shots were great. The bullet just about exited and I was able to weigh it. You can see results in the picture. Still really love these bullets.

I'd say my shot hit bone to make this hole and the close shot didn't help either. I was standing behind a bale and had to step out from behind the bale (bale 20 ft away)-- and did a standing shot with nothing to steady my shot. I'm not very steady free standing. Kinda tricky even at 47yrds.

Thanks. My next goal is video, but shooting a camera and a rifle is tricky. Did it once and even made sure it was in frame when I Shot but when I turned the camera for the last time I hit the stop record button.. Next time.

Here is just one example of my CZ American in 17hmr, when you hit them within range and in the right spot. Know this is not a 204R, but it shows what any round can do when placed properly. Bill K
Just kiddin i like my savage.but its impressive what that lil 17 hmr is capable of
