.204 R700 VLSS Thumbhole. Accurate?

Post by RowdyYates »

Not sure if that's the correct nomenclature. 26" non-fluted stainless barrel, laminated thumbhole stock, no longer made; not an XR100 (I wish). One coming up at a local auction and am wondering if these were reasonably accurate; I suppose about like any "modern-day" Remington: kind of a gamble. Also, they aren't light but does anyone carry them for coyote hunting?
I need another .204 about like a hole in the head (have three now). But one can't really have too many, right?

If you get it and it's not accurate, rebarrel it and turn it into a 20 VT.

I was contemplating free floating and bedding my R700 VLS, what kind of results did you achieve when you did yours? Thanks!!!!

Why aren't these barrels free floated in the beginning?

To a degree they are but there is a built-in contact point at the very end of the stock, other wise they do clear the barrel channel...Jim
