Cooper 38 extractor

Post by chuckhunter2 »

I believe that I have a broken extractor spring in my Cooper 38 17AH. I ordered the spring from Cooper. Does anyone have a diagram of the Cooper 38 bolt? I do not see any way to take the old extractor out.

As long as I was ordering a replacement part from Cooper, I would just ask them the procedure. Bill K :)

Bill:

I ordered the spring by email before I looked at the bolt to see how to remove the extractor. I guess I assumed that it would be held in by a pin like Remington. I did reply to the email confirming shipping the spring by Cooper with a request for instructions. I thought that with all the Coopers on this site that someone would have an idea and I could disassemble the bolt to confirm that it was a spring problem.

I just received an email from Cooper. There are apparently 4 different versions of the M38 bolt. They requested that I send the bolt back to them.

Cooper turned the bolt around in one day. Great customer service. It is on its way back to me now.
